What does a Saturday rally and rain have in common with Waimakariri Riding Club? Lets get on with it says Hess! So despite some rain at the start of the rally the day progressed to improve and as the photos show, actual sunshine. Great turnout again with some very happy campers indeed. At least three new prospective members came, played with us, and gave some great feedback! Both instructors had a mix of riders from those who traditionally don’t enjoy ‘arena’ work to those for whom flatwork was a focus. We also had great participation from some fairly new riders with Beverley’s horse going well in mixed company.
Hess focused on three of the key principles of stop – go – turn and had some breakthrough moments. Charlotte got canter on both legs, Becky went and got Clara and had another great lesson.
Andrea had a real mix of riders and horse’s, and some good work done and a lot of laughter along the way. Apart from Jo’s horse thinking it was ready for ‘airs above the ground’ everybody stayed on! Some riders practiced their tests for Pegasus-Harris-Trophy and generally got themselves acquainted with each other.
Members also spent some time raking the arena sides in so that any arena grooming will work better. Roll on Sunday 6th April for Pegasus Harris Trophy and then Saturday 12th April for working equitation with Vic Nelson place, 622 Poyntz Road, West Eyreton.
